Etsy Gift Ideas

Over the past month, we've been sharing all sorts of homemade gift ideas that would be great for friends and family this holiday season. We think homemade gifts are extra special because your love, personality, and thoughtfulness go into making each one, but we know that lots of time and effort go into making those gifts too. Spare time can definitely be at a minimum this time of year, so if you don't have the extra time to actually make gifts, you can still give handmade gifts to the ones you love.

I'm sure you're probably familiar with Etsy, the online marketplace where you can find all sorts of unique, handmade goods. I've done quite a bit of Etsy shopping over the past few months and I'm in love with everything I've received. Nick and I announced a couple months ago that we're planning to launch an Etsy shop in 2015, but in the meantime we wanted to share some shops that you should check out this holiday season to find the perfect gifts for your special someones!

Earlier this summer/fall, my best friend Bethany spent a few months in Alaska and took some breathtakingly beautiful photographs. Her Instagram was giving me some major wanderlust! Prints of Bethany's photos are for sale in her Etsy shop linked above. They're so amazing. She will also do custom orders if there's a photo you love that's not listed in the shop. See more of her work on her website! Added bonus - from now until the end of the year you can get 40% off using the code "GIMMEPRINTS40"!

In case you missed the memo, we're pretty big Harry Potter fans over here. Last month I purchased this 2015 "Divination Planner" from Ruskerville. (Believe it or not, this was the 5th Harry Potter related Etsy purchase I've made this year...) Planners are essential for me because I need lists and calendars to stay organized. I am so in love with my new planner and I'm anxiously awaiting 2015 so I can use it every day. If you're not big on HP, Ruskerville also has Doctor Who and Sherlock planners, as well as simple patterned planners. Visit their Etsy shop to see more!

I've been following Megan's blog for several months now and her passion for creating has really inspired me. My love for crafting is what inspired this blog, but sometimes the satisfaction of finishing a project isn't as rewarding because it's overshadowed by photographing the process, documenting all of our steps, etc. I love how committed Megan is to spending a little bit of time each day creating something, just for the sake of being creative. Megan's focus is on watercolor calligraphy and in her Etsy shop, you can purchase items she's made such as prints, custom logos, event invites, etc. You can also find more of her work on her Instagram!

The Bleu Giraffe

The one accessory you'll find me wearing everyday is my handmade "Nick" ring from The Bleu Giraffe. This Etsy shop is filled with customizable jewelry - rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces, you name it. Each item is hand-stamped and created just for you, which gives it a bit of whimsical personality and means that they are not perfectly manufactured, which I love. I am so impressed with the quality of my ring and I know it's something that I will have and wear forever. I love personalized jewelry that has meaning, and The Bleu Giraffe's pieces definitely offer that. See more in her Etsy shop!

Our friend Amanda recently launched an Etsy shop called FableMouth where you can find her handmade jewelry and knitted scarves. Most of the items in Amanda's shop are one of a kind pieces made from found objects. I adore this beautiful "Fragments of Atlantis" necklace made from crushed iridescent sea shells. Visit Amanda's shop and find her on Instagram to see more of her beautiful work!

We hope that this post inspired you to skip the shopping mall and instead shop small and support artisans that want to share their craft and creativity. What are some of your favorite Etsy shops? I'd love to discover new favorites! Share with us in the comments.
